A white border card of the old Pittsburgh Zoo (I screwed up the scan – the border is in fact complete. It seems that scanning programs often place the crop guides in the wrong place on postcards). This zoo is a classic victorian atrocity, holding the animals in nothing less than prison cells. I remember this zoo building from when I was a kid. It housed the cats and elephants. It was raized in the early 1980′s to make way for modern facilities. I don’t like seeing old buildings getting torn down, but in this case, good riddance.
A happy new year excuse Card
Why you would write across the face thus ruining the card I can’t imagine. The message reads: “I expressed you a small box of homemade tobacco today. Tell cousin Sudie I am looking for a letter from her. Best wishes, Wailen.” It’s addressed: “Mrs. J. Locke, Orrville, Dallas Co. Alabama.”
